Treatment of dental canals
Endodontics is the treatment and filling of root canals. When caries spreads into deeper layers of the tooth the nerve is damaged. Untreated, the infection can spread even deeper causing inflammation of the jaw and/or sinuses. In such case, the root canals are cleaned, treated with drugs and, having stabilized the inflammatory process, sealed.
There is no void in nature: if the channel is incompletely sealed, the infection is very likely to develop in that area. Therefore, high quality filling is very important. If the channels are curved, obstructed or otherwise difficult to pass, a microscope is used for treatment. X-ray imaging aids in monitoring the treatment process.
